Electric golf trolley battery range: how many holes?

The question that comes up before almost every electric golf trolley purchase is: will the battery last my round? The honest answer is that it depends on the model and on the conditions. This guide gives you the manufacturer figures for all GOOTER models at a glance and explains what changes the range in everyday use.

What affects the range

All range figures are manufacturer specifications and should be read as guide values. In everyday use, four factors above all change how far you get on one charge:

  • Terrain: Hilly courses and soft ground need more energy than flat, firm fairways.
  • Load: A heavy golf bag or, on ride-on models, a higher rider weight reduces the range.
  • Temperature: Cold weather reduces battery performance. The E-CadPro manual names cold explicitly as a reason for reduced range.
  • Driving style: Using a high speed setting and accelerating often uses more energy than a steady pace.

Range of the GOOTER models at a glance

The table shows the manufacturer figures. Some models are specified in kilometres, others in holes. We deliberately do not convert between the two, because the result depends on the course.

All batteries are lithium-ion batteries (a lithium battery on the E-CadCruiser Pro) and are removable. That is handy because you can charge the battery separately from the unit.

How to find the right model

For a round of 18 holes

If you usually play 18 holes and push your trolley, use a remote or let it follow you, the push, remote-control and follow models specified in holes or at around 20 km are a sensible starting point. Allow some reserve if your course is hilly or you play in autumn.

For two rounds or long days

If you play more than one round in a row or ride the unit, look at the models with the larger batteries. The E-CadPro (up to approx. 60 km), the SeatStand 3.0 (up to approx. 50 km) and the E-CadCruiser Pro (up to approx. 45 km on flat ground) have the longest ranges in the line-up.

A simple practical test

On your next round, note how many holes you played and how far the battery was drained. After two or three rounds like this you will have a realistic feel for your own course. That helps you decide whether the range of a model is enough for you or whether you would rather choose a model with a larger battery.

Charging and looking after the battery

Recharge the battery after your round and use only the charger supplied. According to the E-CadPro manual, recharging after every round supports the battery's service life. If you leave the unit unused for a longer period, do not store the battery empty. You will find details on storage and care in our guide to rain and winter and in the original manuals.

Frequently asked questions

How many holes can I play on one charge?

That depends on the model. According to the manufacturer, the E-CadFollow Light is designed for up to 36 holes and the E-Cad Follow App Pro for up to 45 holes. The actual range depends on terrain, load, temperature and driving style.

Can I remove the battery and charge it separately?

Yes, the battery is removable on all GOOTER models.

Why is my range shorter in winter?

Cold, heavy loads, hilly terrain and low tyre pressure can reduce the range. The E-CadPro manual lists these as typical causes.

Conclusion and recommendation

Plan with the manufacturer figure for the model you have in mind and add a buffer for terrain and season. If you are unsure which model suits the way you play, the model comparison or the “Which GOOTER suits me?” quiz will help. You will find all models in the electric golf trolleys collection and the technical data in the manuals section.

All models except the BalancePro are in stock, with delivery usually within 7 business days and EU-wide shipping. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout. The BalancePro is available on request.
