Not every round is played in sunshine, and in winter the trolley often stands in the garage for months. With a little care it will still stay reliable. This guide summarises what the GOOTER manuals say about wet conditions, cleaning and battery storage. The advice differs from model to model, so the manual for your own unit is always the authority.
Riding in rain and wet conditions
Electrical equipment and water do not mix well. The manuals give the following advice:
- Do not submerge: For the E-CadPro and the E-Cad Follow App Pro, submerging is expressly ruled out. On the E-Cad Follow App Pro, light rain is possible, but you should avoid deep puddles and standing water.
- Ride more slowly: On slippery or wet surfaces, braking distances get longer. This applies to the E-CadPro as well as to the E-CadCruiser Pro, whose manual names wet ground, mud, loose gravel, snow and strong wind.
- Use the umbrella: An umbrella holder and umbrella come with the E-CadPro.
After the round: clean and dry
After a wet round in particular, a short care routine is worthwhile:
- Wipe the unit with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For the E-CadCruiser Pro, clear water or a mild neutral cleaner is also mentioned.
- Do not use aggressive cleaners or solvents such as alcohol or petrol, and no pressure washer.
- Dry plug connections and contacts before you insert or charge the battery.
- Check tyres, screws and locks, especially after transport.
Important: after heavy water ingress, flooding or obvious damage, do not charge the battery; contact service instead. That is what the E-CadCruiser Pro manual says.
Battery tips for cold days
According to the E-CadPro manual, cold is one of the reasons for reduced range. In autumn and winter, therefore, allow more reserve and fully charge the battery before your round. Where possible, do not store it at extreme temperatures.
Storing the battery over winter
When the unit is not in use for a longer period, battery storage is crucial. Depending on the model, the manuals give these recommendations:
| Model | Recommendation according to the manual |
|---|---|
| E-CadPro | Recharge after every round. During longer periods of non-use, recharge at least every 60 days. Do not store at extreme temperatures (above 50 °C or below −20 °C). Avoid deep discharge and do not store the battery permanently at 0 %. |
| E-Cad Follow App Pro | For longer breaks, store at a charge level of around 40–70 %. In winter, remove the battery and store it dry, ideally above 10 °C. Recharge briefly every 2 months. Store in a dry, frost-free place away from direct sunlight. |
| E-CadCruiser Pro | Store in a dry, cool and, if possible, frost-free place. Do not leave it permanently in a hot car or in direct sun. During a longer break, recharge at least once a month and do not store it permanently empty. |
For the other models, the respective manual applies. You will find the manuals for all models on our manuals page. As a rule of thumb from all three manuals mentioned: store dry, do not leave the battery empty for long, and recharge regularly during breaks.
Before the season starts
Before your first round in spring, a short check helps, which the E-CadPro manual also recommends before every use: brakes, wheels, locks, handlebar, battery seat and visible cables and plug connections. Charge the battery fully and take the first round calmly.
Frequently asked questions
What happens in rain?
Avoid submerging the unit, deep puddles and standing water. On the E-Cad Follow App Pro, light rain is possible, and on the E-CadPro an umbrella holder and umbrella come with the unit. Follow the advice in the manual for your model.
How do I store the battery in winter?
Dry, frost-free and not permanently empty. For the E-Cad Follow App Pro, the manual recommends removing the battery and storing it at a charge level of around 40–70 %. Recharge it regularly during the break.
May I clean the unit with a pressure washer?
No. The manuals rule out pressure washers and aggressive solvents. Wipe the unit with a soft cloth instead.
Conclusion and recommendation
Ride slowly in the rain, dry the unit after the round, and store the battery dry, frost-free and regularly recharged during the winter break: with these basic rules your trolley will stay ready for use for a long time. You will find all the details in the manuals and technical data.
