Buying an electric golf trolley: how to find the right model

Would you like to buy an electric golf trolley, but face many models with similar promises? This guide sorts the types, names the criteria that really matter on the course and helps you decide. Performance figures are manufacturer specifications and depend on terrain, load, temperature and driving style.

Who is an electric golf trolley for?

An electric golf trolley is worth it for anyone who plays regularly and does not want to carry or pull the weight of the golf bag themselves. Motor and battery take care of moving the bag, and you concentrate on your game. This is particularly useful on hilly courses, with long distances between holes or when you take a lot of equipment with you.

The key question to start with is: would you like to walk beside the trolley or ride on the device? The type depends on that. After that, weight, transport, battery and budget decide.

The five types at a glance

1. Classic electric trolley without remote control

The GOOTER E-CadOne is the entry point: 180 W motor, removable 24 V / 10 Ah lithium-ion battery, up to approx. 10 km/h in 9 levels and a range of up to approx. 20 km. It carries a golf bag of up to approx. 25 kg and weighs approx. 8 kg without the battery. It has no remote control.

2. Trolley with remote control

The GOOTER E-CadLight Carbon Remote drives ahead of you at the press of a button on the remote control. According to the manufacturer, the radio range is up to approx. 70 m, with a maximum of 40 m recommended. The 400 W tubular motor and the removable 24 V / 10 Ah battery manage up to approx. 20 km (approx. 36 holes); the device weighs approx. 8.5 kg including the battery.

3. Follow trolley

Follow models follow you automatically at a distance of approx. 0.5 to 4 m (Follow App Pro) and can also be controlled by remote control. The E-CadFollow Light manages up to 36 holes, the Follow App Pro up to 45 holes. You will find the differences compared with a pure remote control in our follow collection and in the remote control collection.

4. Golf cart with seat

The GOOTER E-CadCruiser Pro is an electric golf cart with a seat, 4 × 300 W all-wheel drive and a total load of up to 180 kg. It is foldable, but weighs approx. 46 kg with battery and seat. That is a different class from a trolley: you ride along.

5. Golf scooter for riding

The E-CadPro (range of up to approx. 60 km, total load of up to 160 kg made up of person and payload) and the Ecad SeatStand 3.0 (seat included, approx. 40 to 50 km) are golf scooters to ride on. The BalancePro is available on request. If you are considering this direction, the page golf cart alternative will help.

Weight and transport

Weight determines how easily you lift the trolley into the car. E-CadOne (approx. 8 kg without battery) and E-CadLight (approx. 8.5 kg including battery) are among the light models. The E-CadFollow Light weighs approx. 14.9 kg with battery, or approx. 10.35 kg without the battery after quick-release. The Follow App Pro weighs approx. 18.5 kg without battery; the battery weighs approx. 1.8 kg. Scooters and golf carts are considerably heavier: the E-CadPro weighs approx. 28 kg without battery, the SeatStand 3.0 approx. 30 kg without battery.

So measure your boot first and think about who will do the lifting. The folded dimensions and packaging dimensions for each model are on the respective product page.

Battery and range in holes

Manufacturers state the range in kilometres, but what matters to you is the number of holes. As a guide: according to the manufacturer, the E-CadLight manages approx. 36 holes, the E-CadFollow Light up to 36 holes and the Follow App Pro up to 45 holes. The three batteries mentioned are removable and consist of lithium-ion cells. On hilly terrain, with a heavy load and in the cold, the range falls. If you often play 27 holes or more, allow for a reserve.

Budget: what does an electric golf trolley cost?

Prices for GOOTER trolleys start at 899 EUR (E-CadOne). With a remote control, the E-CadLight costs 1.499 EUR, and follow models start at 1.999 EUR. Golf carts and scooters start at 2.199 EUR. If your budget is limited, also read our article on getting started for up to 1.500 EUR.
