Golf scooter or electric golf trolley: which one fits you?

You no longer want to carry or pull your bag, but a full golf cart is more than you need? Then the question is: golf scooter or electric golf trolley? Both take the weight off your shoulders, but they differ a lot in how you get around the course. This guide helps you decide.

What is a golf scooter, and what is a golf trolley?

An electric golf trolley carries your golf bag while you walk beside it. It is controlled by handle, remote control or follow function. Our electric golf trolleys are light and easy to load.

A golf scooter carries you as well. You stand or sit on the unit, and the golf bag is fixed to it. You cover the longer distances between holes without walking. You can find all models in the electric golf scooters collection.

Walking or riding: standing and sitting compared

With a trolley, you walk the round yourself. For many golfers that is the appeal: you keep your usual rhythm and simply do not have to carry the bag.

With a scooter there are two options:

If you have longer distances to cover or like to sit between shots, this is a solution. How the models relate to a golf cart is explained on the golf cart alternative page.

Weight and loading

This is the biggest difference. A trolley fits into almost any boot and can be lifted by one person. A scooter is a larger, heavier unit:

Model Weight Note
E-CadOne (trolley) approx. 8 kg without battery, approx. 9.5 kg with battery golf bag up to approx. 25 kg
E-CadLight Carbon Remote (trolley) approx. 8.5 kg incl. battery golf bag up to approx. 30 kg
E-CadPro (scooter) approx. 28 kg without battery, approx. 33 kg with battery folded approx. 105 × 54.3 × 39 cm (without battery)
Ecad SeatStand 3.0 (scooter) approx. 30 kg without battery, approx. 35 kg with battery folded approx. 106 × 69 × 45 cm (without seat, without golf bag)
BalancePro (scooter, on request) approx. 52 kg with battery approx. 45 × 70 × 100 cm

The battery is removable on all models, which lowers the weight when lifting. Before buying, check that your vehicle can take the dimensions and that you can charge the unit safely. Practical tips are in our guide transporting an electric golf trolley by car.

Load capacity and battery

Trolleys carry a golf bag: up to approx. 25 kg for the E-CadOne and up to approx. 30 kg for the E-CadLight. For scooters, the total load of rider plus cargo counts: up to 160 kg for the E-CadPro, a maximum load of 160 kg (one person only) for the SeatStand 3.0, and up to 160 kg for the BalancePro.

On range, all figures are manufacturer figures and depend on terrain, load, temperature and riding style. The E-CadPro reaches up to approx. 60 km, the SeatStand 3.0 approx. 40–50 km. The E-CadOne and E-CadLight trolleys reach up to approx. 20 km. You can read more in our guide battery range of an electric golf trolley.

Course rules: check first, buy second

Whether a scooter is allowed on your course is up to the club. Courses can have their own rules for vehicles. Ask your club before buying. The guide ride-on golf trolley: where is it allowed? covers the points that matter. Only your club can give you a binding answer.

Decision guide

  • You like walking and just want to be rid of the bag: a trolley is enough. The E-CadOne is a good entry point, and the E-CadLight adds a remote control. See also remote control golf trolleys.
  • You want to ride and avoid long walks: take a look at the standing E-CadPro or the SeatStand 3.0 with seat.
  • You are looking for a scooter with a balance system: the BalancePro is available on request, with no stock or delivery promise.

The electric golf trolley comparison shows all models side by side. An electric golf caddy is the lightest solution, while a scooter carries you around the round as well.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take my golf bag on a scooter?

Yes, the golf bag is fixed to the unit. The permitted total load applies to rider and cargo together.

Is a scooter harder to transport than a trolley?

Yes. A trolley weighs under 10 kg, while the E-CadPro and SeatStand 3.0 scooters weigh approx. 33 to 35 kg with battery. The battery can be removed.

Can I ride the scooter on any course?

That is up to the club. Ask about the course rules before buying.

Conclusion

If you like to walk, a trolley serves you well. If you want to shorten long distances or sit down, a scooter is the better fit. All models except the BalancePro are in stock, with delivery usually within 7 business days and EU-wide shipping; shipping costs are calculated at checkout. The BalancePro is available on request only. Want to try a unit? Visit the test drive page.
